After returning from Iraq, ex-Marine John Triton and his wife Kate plan a vacation. Meanwhile, criminal mastermind Rome and his crew rob a jewelry store. While fleeing the police, they stop at a gas station where John and Kate are present. When police arrive, Morgan kills one officer, and Rome injures another. After Bennett knocks John out, Kate is taken hostage. Morgan ignites the gas tanks, blowing up the store with John inside. He survives, escapes, and takes a patrol car to pursue the gang, who shoot at him as he follows them through construction sites and into a lake, where he falls.
The criminals head through swamps to evade capture, keeping Kate as their hostage. John regains consciousness and ignores an officer’s orders to chase them. Tensions rise within the gang when Morgan confronts Vescera, leading Rome to kill Vescera to dispose of him for alligators. Kate clashes with the gang, especially Angela, who physically retaliates against her insults and attempts to escape. The criminals stop at a shack to rest. Triton gets delayed by an attack from some fugitives but defeats them and follows the gang to the lodge. He arrives and kills Morgan, who was trying to turn on the electricity, using a knife left by Vescera. He then kills Bennett, who comes to check on Morgan, by beating him and stomping on his neck. As he hides the bodies under the shack, the police officer he encountered earlier allows him to proceed and turns off the electricity for a distraction.
Kate seizes the moment to escape the building but is caught by Angela. John crashes through a window and meets Rome for the first time. The cop enters and aims his gun at John, revealing he has been working with Rome all along. Rome shoots at Triton, who uses the corrupt officer as a shield. Rome escapes, rejoining Angela and the captured Kate before shooting a gasoline tank and blowing up the shack. John barely escapes through the window. Rome drives off in V.B.’s car but abandons it due to police tracking. Angela hitches a ride and kills a truck driver to steal his trailer.
John is arrested on a boat, handcuffs the officer, and steals the vessel to reach Rita’s Marina. He arrives, jumps onto the back of a truck, and sees a bus. He runs alongside it, pulls Angela into the bus, and kills her, scattering diamonds everywhere. Rome knocks John off the truck by crashing into a building and jumps out before the truck crashes into a lake. Triton fights with Rome in the burning warehouse, seemingly killing him under debris. He then saves his wife from a sinking truck, successfully performing CPR. A injured Rome returns and chokes Triton with a chain. John reverses the situation, breaks Rome’s neck with the chain, and the scene ends with John and Kate kissing.
