A 12-year-old girl was gang raped by dozens of boys who filmed the sexual abuse.
The girl was attacked between February and June of 2023 in various locations across Vienna, Austria, with 17 people – mostly minors – under investigation on suspicion of sexually abusing the victim.
Earlier this month, Austrian police said the suspects, mostly minors, included Austrian, Italian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Turkish and Syrian boys.
One was 19, 12 were between the ages of 14 and 18, and two were below the age of 14.
But the young girl’s 18-year-old ‘boyfriend’ was the first to be convicted of sexual abuse in a gang rape incident.
Named Wais S, the Afghan national reportedly knew the victim was underage, and impregnated her. He also admitted to blackmailing her into aborting the child, coercing her to do so with videos of the pair having sex.
A shocking discovery of a TikTok channel dedicated to public shaming and revenge porn was found on Wais S.’s phone, with one post reading: ‘She gangbanged 15 guys, posts videos, do you want videos, hahahaha’.
Wais was sentenced to just 15 months probation and £670 in damages.
Others are still being investigated after the case was brought to attention by the victim and her mum in October 2023.
Another suspect, a 16-year-old Syrian national, previously appeared in court charged with raping the girl and then blackmailing her with footage.
He was later acquitted of rape charges after telling the court in Vienna he ‘didn’t realise she was 12’, claiming she ‘looked older’.
The investigation into the young girl’s ordeal is ongoing, but has shocked Austria.
Since then, a total of 58 men and boys have been arrested and accused of sexual assault, rape and gang rape.
Another two men wanted in connection with the case have fled the country, it was reported.
Those accused, who range between 17 and 47 years, include married men and at least five students from her college and former classmates from her school.
There are also four minors and two others who were minors at the time of the crime, further complicating the investigation, India’s News Media outlet reported.
